Still loaded down with work -- so I'll just remind one and all that Pittsburgh Blogfest #3 is tonight at Finegan's Wake, 5:30 until we get tired of each other. Yours truly will be there, but don't let that keep you away. C'mon down!
From time to time, I get emails from complete strangers regarding stuff mentioned here. Even though I know that's what blogging's all about, it still blows me away that there are people out there actually reading my blather. It's just cool, and while I'm sure the giants of the blogosphere (your Lileks, your Comics Curmudgeon, your Life in thisLow Country, etc.) get loads more attention than I do, it's still just plain groovy to hear from people.
And not just strangers, either -- two weeks ago, I exchanged emails with somebody I hadn't talked to since elementary school, which puts it around 1973 or so. Turns out that he and I are actually distant relations, which I never knew before.
Here's an email I got today -- hopefully the person who sent it doesn't mind me reprinting it here. Like I said, I just think it's cool when somebody I've never met takes the time to add a comment or send an email.
Classic blogging predicament: I drove past the Casa D'Ice yesterday with my parents en route to the airport and shouted, "Hey, it's the Casa D'Ice!" I should explain that we live in Southern CA but my dad is from the Laurel Highlands area and we just went back for a family reunion. So, my folks went "Huh?" and I was trying to explain that I knew someone who wrote about the Casa D'Ice... well, no, I've never met him but he's someone who has a weblog... at which point I just gave up and mumbled, "Never mind."Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I saw the Casa D'Ice and it made my day.
I'm pretty sure I've done two entries on Casa D'Ice, but can only find one with a quick Google search -- here 'tis, if you feel like going back and re-living the love.
In other news, I've been getting bombarded lately with spam promising "lightning quick erections."
Yeah, like "every time the wind blows" isn't quick enough? Jeebus.
Glad you liked it. It's a weird feeling of deja vu to drive past something you know by sight but have never seen.

Hi Bob,
I accessed your site when I
did a search on Casa D'Ice.
You seem like a down to earth person and your comments are interesting. So I'm going to take advantage of you. I am new
at this, sooo; What the
dickens is a Blog, does it
mean anything or is it just a made up word? I would be happy to here from you on this. I am a
68 year old man and live in
Florida now.
